"No, I can't," He told her knowing that he was going to take care of the security for that week. He knew where his place was and where he was needed the most. Although it was terrible that he rather work instead of seeing his family, it was an insecurity he had. One of the few and one that was never talked about. " They understand my work, Abela knew what she was getting involved with when she married me." He told her.

Serafina studied his face and then realized she wa staring and looked down again, her hand still in his as she spoke softly. "It is hard to be married to a man who loves his job more than he loves his wife..."

"Well you have to imagine how hard it must be for Giovanni to leave you every morning...For a man with many responsibilities at least he comes home every night to you." He explained. Working closely with Gio helped him to sympathize with the man. He carried a heavy responsibility as the Don of one of the five families.

Again Serafina looked to the street for a moment in thought, her hand still in Lucianos.
"I dont think its hard for him. Otherwise he wouldnt do it so often...But he has been better lately..."
She shifted a little and frowned. Still she couldnt help feeling like something was seriously wrong with their marriage...

"If you dont mind me speaking so frankly, I think you deserve better." He told her. As much as he wanted to support her trust in Giovanni, he knew well of his exploits although would never bring them up. He didn't realize the words had left mind and slipped past his lips. He looked up from their hands and across the table at her as he tried to read a response or reaction from her features.

Serafinas jaw almost hit the tabletop. She'd never had anyone say that to her. In fact, if anything, the people who surrounded she and Gio always seemed to think that it was she who didnt deserve him. Giovannis family thought that especially... especially that cousin of his... the lawyer...
She blushed again down before she peered up at him through her eyelashes, feeling somewhat flirtatious.
"Mr. Santapaola..." She leaned forward and whispered, "Do you really think you should say things like that to a married woman?"

He leaned his elbows on the table and moved his drink to the side so he didn't knock it over, "When it comes to the truth, i'll always be the one to speak up." He told her with a flirtatious smirk. He knew what he was saying was wrong, especially since it was a conversation between people married to others.

Serafina smiled broadly and sighed. "Thank you Luciano. Thats refreshing..." She knew everyone else lied to her about her husband, they were all too afraid of him to tell her the truth.
She looked at her watch then. "I should go..."

"Please..don't go, I didn't say it to try and push you away..finish your coffee." He said as motioned to her coffee sitting on the table. His smile grew from the sight of hers and realizing it, he tried to let it fall to a more relaxed look.

Serafina sat back down, "Alright... but I want to be home when GianCarlo gets home. He's been having trouble with the other kids in his cass..."

"That's fine, I'll make sure your there in time." He said as he picked up his coffee mug and took a drink. He was surprised that she had stayed, happy for it as well. He enjoyed her company and didn't want it to end since he was finding out new things about her. "So tell me more about yourself, what do you do during the day when the kids are gone and Gio is working?" He asked her.

Serafina looked surprised and wiggled a little in her chair. "I...well... I plan the parties and watch over the staff and... I make sure we have everything we need at home and... shop..." She looked down, not at all proud of what she did with herself...

"At least you keep busy, there are some wives that attach themselves to bad habits and hobbies when they have so much time on their hands. When my wife was pregnant with the boys she was obsessed with painting the nursery room. He must have gone through 12 different shades of blue, changed the furniture almost forty times...It burned my wallet but at least she was happy doing it." He told her.

Serafina chuckled. She didnt have to worry about burning up Gios pocket book, that was for sure. But as much shopping as she did, and as good at it as she was, she actually wasnt selffish at all like that.
"Well... I cant say I dont indulge in a few lucturies.." She said putting her hand over the bracelet at her wrist...

He smirked as he looked down at the bracelet she was covering with her hand, "But you deserve it, you raise two children practically on your own, your a don's wife..you should be able to indulge whenever you want." He told her.
