*There is no formal Hierarchy in the FBI and the ranks are broken up into three types. FBI Ranks: Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation- Directors of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate and serve ten-year terms unless they resign or are let go before their term is up.Special Agent- A detective or investigator for a state, county, municipal, federal or tribal government.Agent- An Agent is one who carries out different duties that can involve things like Organized Crime, Terrorism, and Kidnapping.
