Lepke shrugged "Well, I would rather be a Detective. More prestige, well at least for me." Then Lepke shrugged again and said "Where's that pretty waitress with our drinks?"
*Sorry it's so short.

Maybe Lepke just wasn't man enough to do real work. James didn't really care he just wanted for his beer. The waitress came with the beers and placed on the table. James took his.

Lepke took his beer with a cheery smile and returned his attention to James and said "I served on street patrol for too damn long. I couldn't wait till I got my shield. How about you? Were you always part of ESU? Or did you start off somewhere else?"

James smirked. "I started in the army, got a good head start from there" he said. "I started off as an Lieutenant in Washington, few years there before i moved to New York to be part of something important" James said and siped his beer.

Lepke raised his eyebrows and said "Army? Really. No shit. I was always tempted to be in the military, but apparently I didn't have the temperment for it. Whatever the fuck that means." Lepke picked up his beer and took a drink from it, and then said after placing the beer back down on the table "You see any combat?" Lepke knew it was just small talk, but he asked it anyways. He had nowhere else to go, as half the woman in the bar to his dismay had rejected his advances.

James took a quick drink of his beer. "Served in Somalia and after that in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq" he said. "So i guess i can say that i have had my shares of the combat" James said and drank again.

Lepke smiled and then said "Hey, did you hear about the mobster who got whacked in a Brooklyn back alley? Apparently he was a DiLeonardo who, according to the video camera, got ambushed by three men later identified as gunmen for the Provenzano family. No shit. I never thought I would fucking be involved with the damn Mafia. Especially in a case like this."

James siped his beer. "I dont really pay any attention to the Mafia, though in my line of duty they some times are on the opposite side" he said. "I leave the worrying about Mafia to you guys and the FBI" James smirked.

Lepke smiled again and said "That is true. Ah well, at least I'm not out there didging bullets every day. I can protect and serve without getting shot at every day of my life. I had enough of getting shot at on street patrol." Then Lepke frowned and said "I was shot twice in the chest during a chase. No big deal, but still earned me a commendation and a promotion to Detective. So it all worked out in the end."

James siped his beer. He had enough proof of being shot at. He consider himself lucky as he had never been hit by a bullet. "That is how it works sometimes, in order to gain recomendations and promotions you need to risk your life and even sometimes after that you get nothing" James said drinking his beer.

Lepke nodded, and said "Yes, James. That is probably true." Then he took a drink from his beer and he smiled and said "Hey, do you think I shoukld ask that pretty little waitress out?" Lepke smirked, he sounded like a schoolboy but hey, he wanted a second opinion. Yet strangely, he didn't know why.

James took a drink from his beer. Who was he to answer to question like that and would it even matter what he had to say about the matter. He thought about his answer for a second. "Well if you feel that you should then go ahead" James said and siped his beer.

"Well if you feel that you should then go ahead" Lepke shrugged and replied "Nah. She'll probably shoot me down. But then again, I am thinking pessimistic. FUCK!" Lepke shouted when some drunken Irish Longshoreman banged into him while he was taking a drink of his beer, and caused Lepke to spill it down himself. Lepke shot up and yelled "WHO THE FUCK YOU THINK YOU ARE! HUH!?"

James smirked. Hopefully he was right and he propably were. Not every woman in the city were sluts. James siped his beer when Lepke spilled his drink all over himself. James stood up and placed his hand between the two men. "It's not worth it" James said.

Lepke nodded and said quietly to the Longshoreman "Get the hell outa here." and then turning back to James, he said "Sorry about that James." Then he smirked and said "This was just my favorite suit."
