A Drink With Conners (Lepke/James Conners)

[James Conners]

James knew that Lepke would propably fuck every woman in the NYPD if he would get the chance. "Yeah, Laura, well who wouldn't want to be married to a handsome man like me" James said smiling. Lately he had been pondering if the married life was the right one for him, first it had felt heavenly but lately it had felt hollow and cold lifestyle. But he loved Laura and tried to make up for his mistake no matter how hard it was. He siped his beer.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke smirked and replied "Sure, James. Whatever helps you sleep at night." Then a pretty officer passed by and Lepke whistled, instead of being angry, she just smiled at him and continued walking to the counter. Lepke drank some more from his mug and then turned back to looking at James and said "So tell me Jimmy, why on earth did you get married? It is more fucking fun to be single than married." Then Lepke whispered "But don't tell any of the woman at the precinct that." Then he smirked and let out another laugh.

It seemed Lepke just couldn't control himself, whistling to every passing woman. Maybe he just wanted to get laid or was hiding something. "Why do someone get married? For love, it is nice to share your life with someone you care" James answered. "I don't think any of the women in the whole NYPD would want to marry you" James said smirking. He took another sip from his glass.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke smiled and said "JC, marriage is just a word. If you love someone, you shouldn't have to be married to prove it." Then he shrugged and continued "Hell, if I was forced to marry every girl I loved, I would have been married so many times over. Ah, who knows? Maybe one of the gorgeous women there might get caught by my charm."

[James Conners]

James sighed. "Love is more than just fucking, you know" he said. James shook his head and drank more beer. He looked at the women Lepke was refering to. "Hmph.." James decided to just keep silent. What did he knew about love, nothing more than Lepke. Did he just pretend that he had a happy marriage. Of course for the imago in the eyes of his superiors looked brighter but then was there really a point if there was no love, left.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke smirked, and then said "Ah, well that's what all married men say. But the truth is, how many actually married just to fuck? Huh?" then Lepke shrugged and said "But who knows. I'm not one to say what love is. So Jimmy, any interesting cases in your area?"

[James Conners]

James shrugged. Maybe Lepke got a point, at least he was right in the part that he was not the one to tell what love is. "We call them missions, go in go out, make sure no one is harmed or rescue some drunken sailors from drowing" James said. "That's our job, you guys do the investigation and we are the ones solving hostage situations or busting narcotics labs" he continued.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke smiled again and said dramatically "Alas, that is how our careers must be. We cannot solve the case without the criminals, and you cannot help without our solving the case." Then Lepke took another drink from his mug and then when the waitress who gave him his number passed again, he smiled at her and then he returned his attention to James. This James Conners was a rather interesting fellow, perhaps it was because his and Lepke's views were opposite, but yet their jobs were so much alike.

[James Conners]

"Yeah" James said. He had nothing to add. The important thing in his work was that everyone did their part well and that was what he demanded from his men. He didn't really like that someone outside of his precint asked question related to his work, there was word that in NYPD there were some corrupt Officers and they were working for the Mafia. You really couldn't trust anyone but neither should you bee to paranoia. James took a quick sip of his beer.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke leaned back in his booth and finished off the rest of his beer, then he looked at James and said "Come JC. There are interesting cases or missions or whatever the fuck you call them. But then again if you don't want to tell me, that's fine. There are times when I fucking hate talking to people about what I do. It is usually so depressing to them."

[James Conners]

"For you they might be interesting to hear but when you have lived them yourself they are not so interesting" James said. He didn't even spoke them with his wife so why would he tell them to Lepke. He quickly finished his beer.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke shrugged and said "That is fucking true Jimmy. So, Jimmy...Jimmy....Jimmy. I-" Lepke was about to speak again when the waitress returned and then Lepke looked at James and said "Want another beer?"

[James Conners]

"Yeah sure" James said. He wasn't going to home for a while.

[Lepke Buchalter]

Lepke smiled at the waitress and said "Two more beers beautiful." and the waitress walked off to get them their drinks. Lepke scratched his chin and said "So, tell me JC why not be a Detective? Why instead be like the, uhh, what are they called? Oh yeah, SWAT?"

[James Conners]

James thought for a second before answering. "Dressing up in suits and sitting behind desk isn't really for me" he said. "I wanted to do some hard work, physical work" he explained.
