Giovanni woke up about an hour before Serafina did, and was already showered and dressed before she woke up. When she woke up, he was emerging from the bathroom fully dressed. He smiled at Serafina and said happily "I gotta go meet my brother Adriano down town in twenty minutes. Something came up. See you in a little bit." Giovanni gave Serafina a kiss on her cheek and walked out of the bedroom. He exited the house, and walking over to his Bugatti, got in the car and exited the house to meet Adriano.

Finding the place next to her empty, Serafina opened her eyes and sat up, the blankets falling away from her shoulders. She saw him then, coming out of the bathroom fully dressed and ready for the day. All she could do was watch while he casually told her about his plans, kissed her, and walked out the door.
It was like every other morning for the past three years, and the magic of the night before was already gone.
With a frown, Serafina lay back against the pillow and groaned, rubbing at her face and wishing to god that she didn’t as betrayed and tricked as she did. She knew it was wrong and selfish of her. After all it wasn’t as if she were his mistress or something. He’d committed to her, and they’d even made plans for their future the night before.
Telling herself she was being selfish in getting angry with him for not staying with her, she got out of the bed and began to get ready for the day.
